Lujaina Mohsin Darwish is a pioneer among Omani women, having been a member of the Council of Oman since its inception in 1991. First, as a member of the Majlis A’Shura, being elected twice from the Wilayat of Muscat; and then in 2015, as a member of the upper chamber, Majlis A’Dawla (State Council) being appointed by Royal Decree.
As a proud Omani citizen, Hon. Lujaina Mohsin Darwish is fervently devoted to her homeland, and she considers the opportunity to serve her beloved land a genuine privilege.
She has drawn immense inspiration from the vision of the father of the nation’s modern renaissance, His Majesty Late Sultan Qaboos bin Said – and from the accelerated momentum for progress under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the Honourable Lady, his spouse.
Lujaina Mohsin Darwish has been appointed on the Board of the Arab International Women’s Forum (AIWF), a leading global platform to support women's economic empowerment and leadership, and advance youth engagement in the MENA region and globally. The AIWF convenes global and emerging leaders from government, public service, business, civil society, academia and media to create an Arab world where women are empowered to make a positive impact as equals and as leaders, in their communities, in grassroots advocacy, in parliament, in the economy, and in societal development overall. Lujaina Mohsin Darwish’s appointment to the board of the prestigious global body is a testimony of her commitment and excellent credentials in giving back to the society, working diligently for the well-being of women & youth, and serving as a fine example and inspiration to all.
